FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions

Each fishing rod is supervised by a local assistant on location.

The assistant:

  • monitors the rod and equipment,
  • baits the hook,
  • unhooks the fish after a catch,
  • shows the fish to the user on camera,
  • releases the fish back into the water.

This ensures safety, proper handling, and a smooth experience for the user.

Not at the initial stage.

For now, all fish are released back into the water after being shown on camera. Fish delivery is planned as a future feature, once logistics and regulations are fully in place.

No.

GoFish is designed to be simple and intuitive, even for people who have never fished before. All controls are visual, and assistance is provided on-site.

No.

GoFish uses real fishing rods, real water, and real fish. Weather, latency, and uncertainty are part of the experience.

This is real fishing — remotely controlled.

GoFish uses different connectivity solutions depending on the location:

  • Lakes and rivers: standard wired or mobile internet
  • Remote locations (seas and oceans): satellite internet via Starlink

This allows GoFish to operate even in places without traditional connectivity.

Currently, we operate with a limited number of live rods, starting with a single demo setup.

To ensure stability and quality:

  • access is limited,
  • sessions are controlled,
  • users may need an access code to try the demo.

This will change as we scale.

Pricing is not final yet.

Our goal is to offer:

  • affordable access for standard locations,
  • premium pricing for exclusive sea and ocean fishing spots.

Exact pricing will be announced closer to launch and during the Kickstarter campaign.

We are scaling in stages:

  • 1. Lakes and freshwater locations (testing and refinement)
  • 2. Seas and oceans — premium remote fishing
  • 3. Expansion to the world's best fishing destinations

New locations will be added gradually as hardware and infrastructure scale.

GoFish is designed as a long-term platform.

Our roadmap includes:

  • expanding to many locations worldwide,
  • improving rod speed, reliability, and responsiveness,
  • adding advanced sensors to the rods,
  • haptic feedback on smartphones so users can feel bites,
  • vibration strength based on bite intensity,
  • support for VR headsets for full immersion,
  • integration with external gadgets and accessories.

Our goal is maximum immersion in real fishing — without being physically there.

GoFish started in Kazakhstan, with a live demo rod on a lake.

Next planned locations include:

  • Mexico
  • Sicily
  • Norway
  • and other top fishing destinations worldwide

GoFish is currently in live demo mode.

The system works today, but access is limited while we improve reliability and scale infrastructure.

You can:

  • follow GoFish on Kickstarter,
  • become an early backer during the campaign,
  • help shape how the platform evolves.

Yes.

Catch-and-release is the default approach. We work with local assistants to ensure ethical fishing practices and respect for nature.

GoFish is built in the real world.

That means real challenges, real testing, and real progress.
We prefer showing how things work — not pretending everything is perfect.

Hardware meets software

GoFish is built as a real-world system

Motorized Fishing Rods

Custom-built hardware designed for remote operation in outdoor environments

Embedded Controllers

Arduino-based systems for precise rod control and sensor feedback

Live Video Streaming

WebRTC technology delivers ultra-low latency video (50-200ms)

Real-time Control

WebSocket communication for instant command execution and status updates

Connectivity for any location

GoFish uses different connectivity solutions depending on the environment

Lakes and Rivers

Standard wired or mobile internet for reliable connectivity

Remote Locations

Starlink satellite internet for seas, oceans, and isolated areas

This allows GoFish to operate even where traditional networks are unavailable.

This is not a digital product pretending to be physical.
It is physical from the start.

This is a new category

GoFish doesn't replace traditional fishing.
It creates a new way to experience it.

  • Access to world-class locations
  • No travel required
  • Real participation, not passive viewing

Fishing becomes a connected experience.

Real environments. Real challenges.

GoFish operates outdoors.
That means weather, cold, wind, frozen water, and unstable conditions.

We don't hide this.
We design for it.

That's why we test early and show things as they are.

From demo to global scale
